World Menopause Day - Good timing or what? Go Vagenius!
The focus on menopause month and menopause day raises awareness of what is a natural phase of change in midlife for women. "Things can get really tough during this time," says Natasha Vavrek, the clinical lead on our Vagenius Perimenopause and Menopause eLearning for GPs. "When I started working in this space a decade ago, no woman would come in for a consult." Now women are researching, and talking about it, which is fantastic, but sometimes it is hard to tell the myths from the facts.
Women are going to their GPs who are the 'go to' for women experiencing perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms. It has come a long way in the last few years, and GPs are well trained. Vagenius Learning and Development Lead, Colette McKieran says, "GPs know about this area of medicine, and they are specialists in holistic care, Vagenius just pulls it together with contemporary evidence, specialists' input and real cases. It is in an accessible, structured format with clinical learning and practical tips for application in practice and our great Vagenius resources. If GPs like our online learning, or want to try it, then this may be a good way for them to upskill and feel less overwhelmed going forward.
